VEVO questions

What type of content can I distribute?

YPBB Music primarily distributes music videos and music-related podcasts to Vevo. All content must meet Vevo’s content guidelines and quality standards.

No. Unlike YouTube’s Partner Program, you don’t need a minimum subscriber count or watch hours to start monetizing your content through YPBB Music on Vevo.

Yes, but you must have proper clearance and rights to use any sampled or licensed material in your content. Our team can help guide you through this process.

Vevo prefers HD quality videos (1080p minimum). We recommend videos with good lighting, clear audio, and professional editing to maximize your success.

Yes, you maintain full control of your content. You can request removal at any time through your YPBB Music dashboard, though it may take 24-48 hours to process.

Due to sensitivity restrictions at YouTube, some Vevo channels can be flagged as restricted during the creation process.

If you encounter a channel failure with this error, retry the channel. If the retry is unsuccessful, please refrain from retrying the channel again, as it will not appear as succeeded in the queue once the placeholder is updated.

To successfully create a channel with these restrictions, Vevo must create a placeholder channel (which will normally display as YourChannelNameTestVEVO in the creation queue) and update it to match the channel name.

Once the channel has been created, Vevo content ops will reach out with the new channel link.

TLDR – channel names cannot be changed. But there is a workaround! See below.

*Vevo also does not delete channels.

Going through a rebrand?

If the OAC and Vevo channel are merged, the easiest way to “change” the channel name, is to update the OAC channel name, which is easily managed while logged in to the OAC. If the OAC and Vevo channel are merged, viewers are rarely if ever routed through the Vevo channel. Changing the OAC name for merged channels is a quick and easy fix.

Capitalization Changes

This is easily modified by Vevo Content Ops. Please start a ticket with Vevo Content Ops!

Spelling Error in Channel Name

If the channel has no live videos – please submit a new channel request with the correct spelling. If the channel has videos, please continue reading the steps below.

If you’re adamant about changing the Vevo channel name:

In short, you’ll need to create a new Vevo channel with the new name, and then transfer any videos you have from the old channel to the new channel.

You will need to follow these steps:

  1. Submit a channel creation request for the new name. Content Ops will create your channel.
  2. If there are videos on the old channel with the old name, you will need to submit a chown request. (Link: Chowning process and FAQ)
  3. Content Ops will assist you with completing the chown request – subscribers do not transfer over, only the videos.
  4. If the old Vevo channel is merged with the artist OAC, you’ll need to contact YouTube to unmerge the old Vevo channel, and merge the new Vevo channel with the OAC.
